Ok. I have declined many offers to advertise on my site because it is really annoying to decipher what is the real information from the ad. I will tell you this is an ad for FatCow’s Hosting BUT it is also a chance to win a Smart Car. I use Fatcow for my hosting and heard about this today when talking to customer service, very excellent customer service I will add. I think the yearly hosting is around $55 a year right now. Also all of there servers run on wind power!!

So if you need hosting click the picture above if you tell them www.hmmbird.com sent you then we both get a domain credit. Not a huge prize but if you are already buying then why not.

Announcing the New and improved EquallyYours Website

This is an exciting project that Hmmbird Design started so read on to learn more or go to the project website at www.equallyyours.org.

What is the EquallyYours Project?

EquallyYours is a multi-media project that promotes Louisville, KY Artists and the Community. EquallyYours features local artists’ works on billboards, along with their name and the EquallyYours website url. This website offers more information about all of the artists, their work and their connection to the community. The artists involved with this project have provided the art that was used in the billboard designs, their reflection of the work and the connection they have to the community. Visiting the site is an opportunity to read this and view the other artists involved with the project.

The History

2009

EquallyYours started in June 2009 and at this time was made possible by The Kentucky Foundation for Women’s Art Meets Activism Grant. The grant supplied the funding for the paper/ printing cost of 10 billboards and also the cost of advertising and web hosting for the project. There was a “call for art” in the community through print advertising, online media and word of mouth.

Christa Faulkner designed and managed the project, billboard design and website design for the project. Also a jury of 2 other artists, Angela Ramsey Robinson, a local gallery owner and mixed media artist, and Shelley Spicuzza, an Indiana resident and Graphic/Product Designer at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, were selected to join the project and participate in choosing from the entries received. There were 45+ entries that were highly strong and met the criteria for the project at this time. Please visit the 2009 Billboard Artists to view their work.

2010

In late March, 2010 Maloney Outdoor Advertising and Associated Posters, Inc. contacted EquallyYours and generously offered to donate the cost of paper/printing and billboard rental for the production of 10 billboards. Thanks to these two local business EquallyYours has the opportunity to grown and promote more local artists and organizations in Louisville, KY.

March 2010 Faulkner teamed up with Andy Cook, local artist, welder and musician, to formulate a new set of EquallyYours Artists. Andy donated his time to find/speak with local artists who fit with the mission of EquallyYours and bring them up to date on the project, as well as helping with project management.

This a very exciting year and has been made possible through very kind donations and many hours of volunteered time from all parties mentioned. A big thank you to all and thanks for viewing this site.

Future Plans

EquallyYours is currently working to apply for 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status. We would like to see our billboard project continue to grow and also would love to see this project happen on a larger scale. If you would like to sponsor a billboard and your local business be featured on this site, please contact us. Or just help us spread the word by forwarding on and sharing this information.

The Coal Free Future Project is a 20-state tour with multimedia performances, follow-up workshops on mountaintop removal, climate change and clean energy options. Coal Free Future troop formally performing “Welcome to the Saudi Arabia of Coal” is now introducing “4 1/2 Hours: Across the Stones of Fire” for their NYC debut.

About the Design:

The design is a 4 x 6 flier to promote the Coal Free Future’s NYC debut of “4 1/2 Hours: Across the Stones of Fire;” capturing script elements of the play, props, and the setting to entice the viewer without too obvious and offensive images. The play consists of only three characters, one of which receives his information about the coal company from the comfort of his home watching their “faux-mercial” from his TV set. The cast, props and thus flier are minimal to focus on the more important issues at hand. The front of the flier sends the viewer to the back which is a close up view detailing the events and information needed to get to the play.

Introducing the new product PopCrepe with original logo design and web design for New Food Concepts.

Client: New Food Concepts. Their new pastry PopCrepes, which are oven baked crepes filled with fruit and fillings.

The Design: Logo, web design, business card design, html/css. For Popcrepe I redesigned the existing logo, which can be seen on the screen shot on this page and in detail in the print design section of my portfolio. The web site is a 3 page site. Home page consisting of about information and a video, by Daniel Patterson. Menu page is a picture gallery of the Popcrepe’s menu with a CSS hover that creates a “pop” up for the images. Contact page hold ordering information and contact form. You can visit the site at www.popcrepe.com
